Position Function: Responsible for any welding and polishing work associated with the manufacturing process of fabricated stainless-steel weldments. The welder / polisher is responsible for the precision welding & polishing of stainless-steel products to FREUND Inc.’s specifications. Attention to detail, good mechanical aptitude and the ability and willingness to follow directions and work well in a team is a requirement. The welder / polisher must have a positive attitude and good verbal communication skills. The welder / polisher must be able to take constructive criticism and be self-motivated.

Required Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. Knowledge of metallurgy required. Professional Certification; e.g., an AWS welding certificate is required.

Required Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG etc.). Experience in using electrical or manual tools required (saws, squares, calipers, tap measure, etc.) Metal polishing experience is required.

Required Skills: Must be able to perform manual, physical activity. Must be comfortable working in often dirty and sometimes confined spaces. Must have good hand-eye coordination and good mathematical skills. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings (blueprints). Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.). Ability to handle stress produced by time pressure, design flaws, customer demands, etc. Deftness and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb and descend stairs several times daily. Must be able to sit, reach, twist, and work in small, confined areas.
