Job Title: Welder

Required Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. Knowledge of metallurgy required. Professional Certification (e.g., an AWS welding certificate a plus.

Required Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.). Experience in using electrical or manual tools required (saws, squares, calipers etc.) Metal polishing experience a plus.

Required Skills: Must be able to perform manual, physical activity. Must be comfortable working in often dirty and sometimes confined spaces. Must have good hand-eye coordination and good mathematical skills. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings (blueprints). Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.).Ability to handle stress produced by time pressure, design flaws, customer demands, etc. Deftness and attention to detail

Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb and descend stairs several times daily. Must be able to sit, reach, twist, and work in small, confined areas.

POSITION FUNCTION: Responsible for any welding work associated with the manufacturing process of fabricated stainless-steel weldments. The welder is responsible for the precision welding of stainless-steel products to FREUND Inc.’s specifications. Attention to detail, good mechanical aptitude and the ability and willingness to follow directions and work well in a team is a requirement. The welder must have a positive attitude and good verbal communication skills. The welder must be able to take constructive criticism and be self-motivated.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Tasks:

  1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  2. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  3. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
  4. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  5. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  6. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  7. Weld components together and fabricate or repair products in accordance with blueprints
  8. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  9. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws and to ensure the weld meet FV specifications
  10. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  11. Ensure personal safety and safety of others around them by using equipment as intended.
  12. Complete daily housekeeping duties in workstation.
  13. Complete assigned work within the given timeline/budget according to standards.
  14. Match work orders to components.
