With great sadness, we announce the passing of Yasutoyo (Yas) Fusejima, the founder of Freund Corporation, parent company of Freund Group.

His vision and passion for innovation has left an indelible mark on the pharmaceutical industry and the global population.   The Freund Group began with the development of the world’s first automated film tablet coating machine and some of the first film and enteric coating solutions.

Under his leadership, the Freund Group has continuously improved coating and granulation technologies in the form of equipment and excipients (‘Hardware’ and ‘Software’) used throughout the world.

His corporate philosophy “Develop the Future Through Creativity” lives on and will continue to guide us long into the future.

Yasutoyo Fusejima passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on October 12, 2025.
